New Handset Rumours Round-Up (2019)

By January 31, 2019June 15th, 2020No Comments

2019 is looking like an exciting year for new device releases and we’re looking forward to seeing some of the biggest devices yet! As a result we’ve rounded up the latest new device rumours for you, below.

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 E and S10+

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ launched last Spring and rumours are building in anticipation for the next release, thought to be the 20th of February.

With three new devices expected to be released; including the Samsung Galaxy S10 (5.8”), S10 E (6.1”) and S10+ (6.5”) – this is set to be Samsung’s biggest launch yet!

There are rumours of significant design changes for Samsung this year with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the S10 and S10+. If this is included it will be the world’s first commercial ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. (T3)

Ultrasonic technology bounces sound waves off the skin to create a 3D mould of your fingertip. The sensor captures a huge amount of detail including individual ridges and pores. This is far more accurate than optical sensory currently used in devices.

Sony Xperia XZ4

Rumoured to be launched at MWC 2019, the Sony Xperia XZ4 looks set to include three cameras (in line with rival handsets), 6.5” flat screen and bezel above and below the screen with no notch. (TechRadar

Huawei P30, P30 Lite and P30 Pro

The Huawei P30, P30 Lite and P30 Pro are expected to be launched either in February at MWC 2019 or in March.

From leaked renders it would appear that the P30 does not have a rear or a side fingerprint sensor, meaning it likely has an in-display sensory (similar to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro). In terms of design it doesn’t appear that will be much change from the P20, but we are likely to see an upgrade in cameras – with the P30 having a triple camera and the P30 Pro with a quad camera. Apple iPhone 2019

Few rumours to report on yet but it has been said that the latest iPhone will not support 5G. Traditionally launched in the second week of September, it looks as though the launch could be on the 10 September 2019 – but we’ll have to wait and see. (PocketLint)
