With September approaching and rumours of two, maybe even three, new iPhone devices on the way, Apple’s flagship devices are the most anticipated and talked about yet. To keep you up-to-date we’ve rounded up the latest rumours:
Name – iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus or iPhone 7 Pro
Rumours suggest that there could be three new devices: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and maybe a more sophisticated iPhone 7 Pro. (Pocket-Lint)
The two new devices are expected to be released on the 6th or 13th September in line with previous Apple device launches. It is expected that a bigger upgrade will be saved for the 2017 devices, which will mark the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone. (PC Advisor).
Size and Processor
TechTimes have suggested that Apple may get rid of the 16GB models and replace them with a minimum 32GB, it is expected that all models will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 256GB variants. This makes sense with the amount of storage now needed for storing all your content on an iPhone. It is also thought that all the devices will be equipped with an A10 chipset providing better performance in terms of graphics and system.
In terms of colour, rumours suggest that Apple is going to replace the Space Grey with a Deep Blue colour (Alphr) whilst others believe it will be a new Space Black (Trusted Reviews). Additionally, it has been claimed that the new iPhones could have a ceramic back similar to the Once Plus X, whilst others suggest a glass back similar to the Xperia Z5. (PC Advisor). Although, most believe it will maintain the same design with rounded edges but that the antenna lines are likely to change, with the radios running along the top and bottom of the device rather than around the back. (Digital Trends)
It has been widely rumoured that Apple will be ditching the headphone jack and replacing with a second speaker grill along the bottom of the device, this extra space is likely to be used for redesigning the internals and maybe a larger battery. It is also thought that the removal of the headphone jack will improve water resistance (MacRumours). Lightning EarPods are expected to replace the standard headphones, although Bluetooth earphones could be a possibility with Apple now owning the trademark ‘AirPods’ (T3).
New Dual-Lens Camera
TechCrunch have suggested that the iPhone 7 Pro model will feature a new dual-lens camera, whilst the iPhone 7 will include the regular camera. The dual-lens camera would improve background de-focus, low-light performance, colour fidelity and HDR performance. It is also expected that Apple will remove the camera bump in favour of a more sleek finish (TechRadar).
It is also expected that the new iPhone, most likely the iPhone 7 Pro, will feature the new Smart Connector. This has most recently been used on the new iPad Pro to let you expand your device with accessories like keyboards. (PC Advisor)
